Brandon Jones

Brandon Jones is the director of political campaigns for the Southern Poverty Law Center, overseeing various advocacy campaigns advancing the 人兽性交鈥檚 mission of racial justice in the Deep South. He formerly directed the 人兽性交鈥檚 legislative advocacy and coalition campaigns in Mississippi.

Earlier, Jones was a lawyer in private practice. He served Jackson County as a member of the Mississippi House of Representatives from 2008 to 2012. He was the author of 13 bills signed into law, including measures providing additional funding to court-appointed special advocates. As a Mississippi legislator, he coordinated a statewide media campaign promoting election reforms that included 鈥渘o-excuse鈥 early voting and same-day voter registration.

Jones co-founded the Mississippi Democratic Trust, a political action committee, in 2012, and has served as a consultant and attorney for numerous local and statewide campaigns. Jones has served as a political analyst for Mississippi Public Broadcasting and as an adjunct professor in public policy at Millsaps College.

Jones serves on the Wake Forest University Divinity School Board of Visitors. He is an American Bar Foundation fellow and serves on the Groundwork Project National Advisory Board. He is a former member of the Mississippi Board of Bar Commissioners, the former board chairman for the Mississippi Coalition Against Domestic Violence and a former board member of the Mississippi Youth Symphony Orchestra.

Jones received a bachelor鈥檚 degree in English from Mississippi College and a Master of Divinity degree at Wake Forest University. He received his law degree at Mercer University.
