Religious Right Apoplectic Over Decision on Marriage Equality

Pedophilia. Incest. Bestiality.

Oh my! What in heaven have the Supremes wrought with their decision that it鈥檚 unconstitutional for the federal government to discriminate against legally married same-sex couples?

It鈥檚 a slippery slope, my friend. So says the rabidly homophobic Bryan Fischer of the American Family Association (AFA). 鈥淭he DOMA ruling has now made the normalization of polygamy, pedophilia, incest and bestiality inevitable. Matter of time,鈥 he tweeted, matter-of-factly.

And just to remind everyone that he obsesses endlessly about gay sex, he tweeted: 鈥淪odomy-based marriage is an egregious violation of the 鈥楲aws of nature and Nature鈥檚 God.鈥 May God have mercy on us.鈥

The AFA, in fact, was out in full force, fearing the wrath of God. Today鈥檚 Supreme Court decision was the hot topic on the group鈥檚 American Family Radio. 鈥淲e started our program by saying regardless of what happened today, God is still on the throne,鈥 AFA spokesman Fred Jackson told Sandy Rios. 鈥淲e cannot forget that, but there is no question that as a country 鈥 if God鈥檚 judgment has not been upon us before this, God鈥檚 judgment will be.鈥

Responding to that, AFA President Tim Wildmon added, 鈥淲ell it鈥檚 a very sad day in our country, folks, because this is America shaking its fist at God almighty.鈥

Next time there鈥檚 a devastating natural disaster, we鈥檒l all know who to blame, right? Justice Kennedy, who sided with the liberal wing in a 5-4 ruling.

Meanwhile, over at CNN, Tony Perkins, president of the Family Research Council (FRC), told Wolf Blitzer that it means the loss of rights for everyone else. 鈥淵ou鈥檙e going to see a loss of parental rights, as children are taught in school morals that are contradictory to their parents鈥, religious liberty loss from business owners, bakers, florists, and others who are forced to comply with a different view of marriage as well as even churches in some places, religious organizations losing their tax exemptions because they fail to comply with the force of the state in terms of redefining marriage.鈥

Those poor florists and bakers. You鈥檇 think more marriages would mean more orders for flowers and wedding cakes. But, hey, maybe the FRC has done a 鈥渟tudy鈥 on this.

Todd Starnes of Fox News also was tweeting:

鈥淪upreme Court overrules God.鈥

鈥淲on鈥檛 be long before they outlaw the Bible as hate speech.鈥

鈥淗ow long before federal agents haul pastors out of the pulpit?鈥漌on鈥檛 be long now.

Then there was former Arkansas Gov. Mike Huckabee: 鈥淛esus wept."

Matt Barber of Liberty Counsel: 鈥淐hristians, be vigilant & strong in your faith. Evil has the Truth of Christ in its cross-hairs. How much more will it persecute you?"

It goes on and on and on. Rush Limbaugh says it鈥檚 the 鈥渄isintegration of America鈥 and that 鈥渘obody in this country has ever been denied the right to get married.鈥

Huh?
