CBS Evening News Explores Antigovernment Views of LAX Shooter
Last night, the CBS Evening News featured Hatewatch鈥檚 Mark Potok in a examining the antigovernment views of suspected LAX shooter Paul Ciancia. According to CBS, the FBI executed a search warrant for material 鈥渞elating to Ciancia's views on the legitimacy or activities of the United States Government, including the existence of a plot to impose a New World Order.鈥
The FBI was pursuing the material based on a one-page "manifesto," which included a reference to a 鈥淣ew World Order鈥 and was found in Ciancia鈥檚 bag at the scene of the shooting. Hatewatch reported about the document on Saturday, including Ciancia鈥檚 use of antigovernment 鈥淧atriot鈥 terminology and attacks against TSA and former DHS head Janet Napolitano. CBS that Ciancia said his goal was to 鈥渋nstill fear in your traitorous minds,鈥 speaking of the TSA.
Hatewatch鈥檚 Potok provided historical context for the ideology that appears to have motivated the shooter, saying that it 鈥渂asically identifies the federal government as an evil malefactor that is involved in a conspiracy to force the United States into a so-called one world government known as the new world order.鈥
