Maryland County OKs Use of Building for Klan Group Meeting
Citing First Amendment rights, a county in Maryland has given a group permission to meet in a county government building tomorrow night to promote a petition drive to impeach President Obama.
鈥淏arack Hussein Obama is an illegal president,鈥 Richard Preston, imperial wizard of the Confederate White Knights, . 鈥淗e needs to be removed from office. We also want 鈥極bamacare鈥 shut down. It鈥檚 against citizens鈥 rights.鈥
that an impeachment petition would be passed around during the meeting.
Al Wein, Cecil County director of administration, insisted that the county had no choice but to allow the group to use the building.
鈥淭he First Amendment 鈥 prohibits local government from discriminating against an organization鈥檚 right of free speech and peaceable assembly on public property, no matter how offensive the message may be,鈥 Wein鈥檚 office said in a written statement distributed to media.
In October, the at Gettysburg National Military Park, the site of one of the bloodiest battles of the Civil War, but its plans were thwarted when access to the park was restricted due to the U.S. government shutdown.
