Petition: Tell the new Congress to block Trump鈥檚 white nationalist agenda
Last night, Americans shifted the balance of power in the House of Representatives, creating a Democratic majority. The new Congress now holds the responsibility to take a stand for civil and human rights.
Here are four immediate steps Congress must take to put America back on the right track. Add your name in support.
1. Reauthorize and Strengthen the Voting Rights Act.听Congress must enact a new Voting Rights Act听to ensure fair elections and听unfettered听access to the ballot for everyone.
2.听Investigate America鈥檚 resurgent white supremacist movement.听President Trump鈥檚 role in electrifying the white supremacist movement cannot be ignored. Congress must听hold hearings to听investigate the rise in hate and extremism in this country听and on possible solutions.
3.听Stop the Trump deportation machine.听The Trump administration听is operating an听inhumane deportation machine that rips听families apart, terrorizes communities,听and听flouts due process听and American values.听Congress must hold the administration accountable for its abuses and听enact听sensible听reforms to our broken immigration system.
4.听Stop the Census from being rigged.听By including a question about citizenship, the听Trump administration wants to use the decennial Census as a weapon听of intimidation听against immigrants, one that would听distort听the results. Congress must take steps to stop this scheme.听
