WASHINGTON, D.C.聽鈥斅燭he聽Southern Poverty Law Center聽(人兽性交)聽President and CEO Margaret Huang issued the鈥痜ollowing鈥痵tatement reflecting on the third anniversary of鈥痶he鈥痺hite聽nationalist聽attack on the Tree of Life Synagogue.聽聽

鈥淭oday we pause to remember the聽mass shooting聽that occurred three years ago today at the Tree of Life Synagogue in Pittsburgh,聽Pennsylvania.聽On that Saturday morning, an聽antisemitic white nationalist聽who was radicalized on social media聽took the lives of聽11 people,聽and聽injured at least six,聽who had gathered inside the synagogue聽for Shabbat morning services. White supremacists on fringe websites celebrated this聽deadly聽attack in its aftermath,聽even as聽family members mourned the loss of their loved ones.聽

鈥淭his聽is one in a sadly long-string聽of attacks our nation has suffered over the last several years as extremists聽and鈥痺hite supremacists聽have become聽more emboldened and聽their messages and propaganda have increasingly infected the mainstream.聽

鈥淲e must remember the lives of those lost and their families, and all those impacted.聽We must also recommit ourselves to reject聽antisemitism and聽white supremacy.聽Only through the courage to stand up and fight back in this manner will we be able to turn the corner from these dark days in our nation鈥檚 history聽and defend inclusive democracy in聽America.聽

鈥淲e ask you to join us to prevent hatred before it turns to violence, to help us expose the dangers of antisemitic hatred, and to call upon our government to dismantle the structural racism that perpetuates it.鈥澛�
