ATLANTA –ÌýT´Ç»å²¹²â,Ìý³Ù³ó±ðÌýU.S. District CourtÌýfor the Northern District of GeorgiaÌýdeniedÌýaÌýrequest for emergency reliefÌýthat wouldÌýrequire the Cobb County School District toÌýfollow guidelines by the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) to reduce COVID-19ÌýtransmissionÌýin K-12 schools.ÌýÌý
The lawsuit was filed on behalf ofÌýCobb County students with disabilitiesÌýwho are at risk of severe illness and even deathÌýif they contract COVID-19.ÌýPlaintiffs are four students with disabilities who requested reasonableÌýaccommodationsÌýsoÌýthey canÌýaccessÌýall ofÌýthe benefits of an in-person education like their nondisabled peers,Ìýas ³Ù³ó±ðÌýlaw requires.ÌýÌý
