Here are stories that caught our attention through April 5.</p> </div> </div> </div> <div class="field field-name-field-image field-type-image field-label-hidden"> <div class="field-items"> <div class="field-item even "></div> </div> </div> <div class="field field-name-title-field field-type-text field-label-hidden"> <div class="field-items"> <div class="field-item even "><h1>Extremism Headlines: Uganda anti-人兽性交 law, Eastman disbarred, Politician claimed &#039;white genocide&#039; </h1> </div> </div> </div> <div class="field field-name-body field-type-text-with-summary field-label-hidden"> <div class="field-items"> <div class="field-item even "><h2>Kentucky politician claimed Jewish people promote "white genocide"</h2> <ul> <li>TJ Roberts, a politician from Boone County, Kentucky, said he was "sick of [Jewish people] promoting white genocide鈥 in a <a href="/hatewatch/2024/04/03/kentucky-politician-claimed-jewish-people-promote-white-genocide-2017-private-chat">private 2017 chat that Hatewatch obtained</a>. "White genocide," or the <a href="/hatewatch/2022/05/17/racist-great-replacement-conspiracy-theory-explained">great replacement conspiracy theory</a>, is the unfounded claim that elites are attempting to dilute white-majority nations with immigrants.</li> <li>Roberts' political activism looks like it began in <a href="/hatewatch/2022/05/25/mises-caucus-could-it-sway-libertarian-party-hard-right">far-right libertarian circles</a>. He was a contributor to the Liberty Hangout, a far-right libertarian outlet that used to collaborate with white nationalist <a href="/fighting-hate/extremist-files/individual/augustus-sol-invictus">Augustus Invictus</a>' defunct website. He was also part of a university group that invited white nationalist Richard Spencer to speak at a conference in 2017. Roberts declined to comment. Hatewatch shared the conversation with Rep. Thomas Massie, who has supported Roberts. Massie responded that he would "double" his support for Roberts.聽</li> <li>In a statement to the <em>Lexington Herald-Leader</em>, Roberts said he remembered the chat but that his comment was taken out of context. On X, he denied making antisemitic comments.聽</li> </ul> <h2>Texas Company paid over $20 million to antigovernment group to bus immigrants聽</h2> <ul> <li>Hatewatch <a href="/hatewatch/2024/04/02/texas-company-paid-extremist-group-20-million-operation-lone-star-busing">obtained documents</a> that show Wynne Transportation, the company the state of Texas contracts to bus immigrants from the U.S.-Mexico border as part of "Operation Lone Star," paid antigovernment extremist Mayhem Solutions Group (MSG) tens of millions of dollars. A subcontractor who worked for Mayhem has called the conditions on these buses "inhumane." The documents also reveal a tangled web of limited liability companies that conduct the busing on behalf of Wynne Transportation.聽</li> <li> <p>Hatewatch <a href="/hatewatch/2023/07/18/extremist-group-illegally-promotes-security-services-across-us">has previously reported </a>on MSG's sometimes unlicensed activities as a private investigations and security firm across the U.S.聽</p> </li> </ul> <h2>John Eastman disbarred over 'unethical' acts</h2> <ul> <li>Former Trump team attorney John Eastman has been disbarred over "unethical" actions in relation to his legal attempts to overturn the 2020 presidential election, <a href="/hatewatch/2024/04/03/judge-recommends-former-adf-attorney-be-disbarred-law-license-now-inactive">Hatewatch reported</a>. The California Bar's website listed him as "<a href="https://apps.calbar.ca.gov/attorney/Licensee/Detail/193726">not eligible to practice law</a>" as of April 2. Judge Yvette Roland聽<a href="https://www.documentcloud.org/documents/24521265-sbc-23-o-30029-decision-trial" rel="noreferrer noopener" target="_blank">recommended</a>聽that "the serious and extensive nature of Eastman鈥檚 unethical actions, the most severe available professional sanction [disbarment] is warranted to protect the public and preserve the public confidence in the legal system." Eastman has appealed and it will be up to the California Supreme Court to issue a final order.</li> </ul> <h2>Professor 'hidden hand' behind far-right media platform</h2> <ul> <li><em>The Guardian </em><a href="https://www.theguardian.com/us-news/2024/mar/29/boise-state-university-professor-scott-yenor-action-idaho">has revealed </a>that Scott Yenor, a professor at Boise State University and a scholar associated with the <a href="/hatewatch/2023/12/13/contracts-between-hungarian-nonprofit-and-christopher-rufo-others-raise-foreign-agent">Claremont Institute</a>, is the "hidden hand" behind Action Idaho, a far-right online media platform. The article reported that Action Idaho disseminated inflammatory right-wing commentary on Idaho politics, including attacks on 人兽性交 individuals and Republicans deemed insufficiently right-wing. Notably, Yenor secured funding for Action Idaho from influential donors, including Thomas D. Klingenstein, the chair of the Claremont Institute board,聽according to聽<em>The Guardian.</em></li> </ul> <h2>Uganda constitutional court upholds anti-人兽性交 law</h2> <ul> <li>Uganda鈥檚 constitutional court upheld an anti-人兽性交 law on April 3 that imposes severe penalties for consensual same-sex relations. <a href="https://www.reuters.com/world/africa/ugandas-constitutional-court-upholds-anti-homosexuality-law-2024-04-03/">Reuters reported</a>. The law, signed into effect in May of last year, includes provisions such as life imprisonment for 人兽性交 individuals engaged in consensual relationships. The court found that certain sections of the law violated the 鈥渞ight to health, privacy, and freedom of religion.鈥 Despite this, the court declined to nullify the entire law. Additionally, the law prescribes the death penalty for cases of "aggravated homosexuality," which includes sexual relations involving people infected with HIV and minors. Petitioners against the law expressed disappointment, vowing to appeal to the Supreme Court.</li> <li>Hatewatch <a href="/hatewatch/2024/02/13/despite-denials-harsh-anti-lgbtq-law-uganda-appears-be-based-us-rhetoric-and-pseudoscience">previously reported </a>on Uganda聽President Yoweri Museveni and first lady Janet Museveni's April meeting with <a href="/fighting-hate/extremist-files/group/family-watch-international">Family Watch International </a>(FWI) leader Sharon Slater and others from FWI. (Photo by Jared Wenzelburger/The Chronicle)</div> </div> </div> </div> </div> </div> <p>Foxx, <a aria-label="https://www.pbs.org/wgbh/frontline/article/several-well-known-hate-groups-identified-at-capitol-riot/" aria-label-position="top" class="external-link" href="https://www.pbs.org/wgbh/frontline/article/several-well-known-hate-groups-identified-at-capitol-riot/" rel="noopener" target="_blank">who was present at the Jan. 6, 2021</a>, pro-Trump rally at the U.S. Capitol and relocated to Post Falls, Idaho, that same year, also told the North Idaho Pachyderms Club meeting this Jan. 6 that federal agencies had engineered the subsequent riot and invasion of the Capitol building and that conspirators 鈥 again unidentified 鈥 were seeking to manipulate children into same-sex attraction for political ends.</p> <p>At the Pachyderms meeting, Foxx was coy in identifying those he believed to be behind these conspiracies, but Hatewatch鈥榮 examination of Foxx鈥榮 recent online output shows that he has previously attributed all of the same conspiracies to Jewish people in posts that聽<a aria-label="https://archive.ph/ktxW9" aria-label-position="top" class="external-link" href="https://archive.ph/ktxW9" rel="noopener" target="_blank">defend Nazi book-burning</a>,聽<a aria-label="https://archive.ph/S47lC" aria-label-position="top" class="external-link" href="https://archive.ph/S47lC" rel="noopener" target="_blank">praise antisemitic rapper Ye and white nationalist Nick Fuentes</a> for confronting 鈥済lobal Jewish power,鈥 and assert that聽<a aria-label="https://archive.ph/vc54U" aria-label-position="top" class="external-link" href="https://archive.ph/vc54U" rel="noopener" target="_blank">Jews control the media</a>.</p> <p>Foxx鈥檚 speech to the GOP-aligned club is the most recent indication that extremists are welcome in Republican circles in North Idaho.</p> <h2 data-heading="Pachyderms delete Foxx advertisement">Pachyderms apparently delete Foxx advertisement</h2> <p>Although the North Idaho Pachyderms Club did not publicly advertise Foxx鈥檚 speech 鈥 leaving the name of their Jan. 6 speaker blank in their online calendar 鈥 Foxx himself uploaded a video recording of the talk to his website and a range of 鈥渁lt-tech鈥 platforms that he uses to spread propaganda.</p> <p>Additionally, archived versions and screenshots of posts that Hatewatch reviewed indicate that the Pachyderms did advertise the event on their Telegram channel in the days leading up to the speech. From there, it was reposted in a right-wing Telegram group of 654 members dedicated to discussion of political issues in Kootenai County.</p> <p>The advertisement was apparently later deleted from the North Idaho Pachyderms Telegram channel, but it indicated that the event at which Foxx spoke was held at JB鈥檚 Restaurant in Coeur D'Alene at 7:30 a.m. on Jan. 6.</p> <p>The next day, Foxx posted video of his speech across all the platforms he uses.</p> <p>The North Idaho Pachyderms have no official website, their Telegram channel does not offer messaging, and no public listing contains either contact details for the group or the names of any officers. Hatewatch attempted to call and text message a number provided for a man identified as a coordinator of the group in a local newspaper in 2019, but received no response.</p> <h2 data-heading="Foxx delivers Jan. 6 Conspiracy Theories">Foxx delivers Jan. 6 conspiracy theories</h2> <p>Although the topic announced at the start was 鈥渃ulture wars,鈥 Foxx dwelled on the Jan. 6, 2021, riots and their basis in the false belief that Donald Trump had in fact won the 2020 election.</p> <p>鈥淚 think all of us in this room know what really happened on Jan. 6,鈥 he told the audience. 鈥淚t went exactly the way the FBI wanted it to go.鈥</p> <p>At one point near the beginning of the talk, Foxx asserted, 鈥淵ou know what? The election <em>was</em> stolen.鈥</p> <p>Later in the talk, however, Foxx outlined a more expansive conspiracy theory about a plot to 鈥渞eplace鈥 white Americans. He claimed the plot utilized social media platforms, immigration policy and 人兽性交-inclusive education programs.</p> <p>On social media platforms, Foxx claimed that 鈥渧oters are not informed, they are programmed,鈥 and falsely asserted that 鈥渁ll of these (social media) companies were started by the CIA.鈥</p> <p>Perhaps surprisingly, Foxx included Palantir 鈥 founded and led by far-right billionaire Peter Thiel 鈥 among the companies who were complicit in the effort to surveil and brainwash Americans.</p> <p>Foxx pointed to the increasingly progressive political inclinations of the so-called Millennial and Generation Z cohorts to 鈥渃ulture war. These people have control over the information ... they have taken over the minds of the younger generation.鈥</p> <p>鈥滻f they take the minds of the youngest generations, they鈥檝e won everything forever,鈥 he added.</p> <p>Foxx has previously identified Jewish people as the architects of media manipulation in the U.S.</p> <p>In an <a aria-label="https://archive.ph/mnCBG" aria-label-position="top" class="external-link" href="https://archive.ph/mnCBG" rel="noopener" target="_blank">October 2022 post</a> titled 鈥淚s Kanye Right About the Jewish Entertainment Racket?鈥 Foxx published a gallery of entertainment industry figures who are Jewish, asking in the accompanying text, 鈥淲hat are the effects of the elites existing as an ethnic clique who do not wish for the best of the nation鈥檚 people but themselves?鈥 and answering, 鈥淚t means to live as a slave.鈥</p> <p>This was just one of <a aria-label="https://www.google.com/search?client=firefox-b-1-d&amp;q=site%3Adailyveracity.com+jews" aria-label-position="top" class="external-link" href="https://www.google.com/search?client=firefox-b-1-d&amp;q=site%3Adailyveracity.com+jews" rel="noopener" target="_blank">dozens</a> of explicitly antisemitic posts that he has added to his website The Daily Veracity.</p> <h2 data-heading="Foxx's Anti-人兽性交 hate">Foxx鈥檚 anti-人兽性交 hate</h2> <p>After making claims about his daughter鈥檚 experiences in a local middle school with 人兽性交-inclusive school policies and curriculums, he told the audience that 鈥渢hey鈥榬e recruiting young people,鈥 and then connected this with the 鈥淕reat Replacement鈥 narrative with the warning that 鈥渋f they can鈥檛 replace you demographically quick enough, they鈥檙e just going to turn your kids gay.鈥</p> <p>Foxx recommended his audience read the transphobic, pseudoscientific book <em>Irreversible Damage,</em>聽written by freelance journalist Abigail Shrier and published by the right-wing Regnery outlet.</p> <p>Soon after the book鈥檚 publication in 2020, a <a aria-label="https://www.psychologytoday.com/us/blog/political-minds/202012/new-book-irreversible-damage-is-full-misinformation" aria-label-position="top" class="external-link" href="https://www.psychologytoday.com/us/blog/political-minds/202012/new-book-irreversible-damage-is-full-misinformation" rel="noopener" target="_blank">review</a> by聽<em>Psychology Today</em> described Shrier鈥檚 book as 鈥渂izarre and full of misinformation.鈥</p> <p>Foxx attributed increased support for same-sex marriage 鈥 including among Republicans 鈥 as evidence for the proposition that 鈥渘o one is immune from the media's control over your mind.鈥</p> <p>He singled out the sitcom 鈥淲ill and Grace鈥 as an example of how 鈥渢he media made us this way鈥 and compared the U.S. unfavorably with Russia, where he claimed that 鈥70% of the population disagrees with homosexual marriage and all this gender stuff.鈥</p> <p>Previously on his website, Foxx addressed what he described as the 鈥溾榃ill and Grace鈥 effect鈥 in an article titled 鈥淵es, Jews Do Run Hollywood and the Media. Here鈥檚 Why it Really Matters,鈥 in which he asserted that 鈥淛ews control the mainstream media鈥 and 鈥渢he Federal Reserve is largely controlled by a small cadre of powerful Jews.鈥</p> <p>In the Friday speech, Foxx continued: 鈥淭he only answer to this is to return to the regulation of morality. Liberals call this fascism, neo-Nazism. No this is what we were doing 20 years ago.鈥</p> <p>Previously, Foxx had called for a 鈥渞egulation of morality鈥 in website posts that variously <a aria-label="https://archive.ph/gKHSS" aria-label-position="top" class="external-link" href="https://archive.ph/gKHSS" rel="noopener" target="_blank">attacked 人兽性交-inclusive programs</a> at a local school, argued that <a aria-label="https://archive.ph/5uvwu" aria-label-position="top" class="external-link" href="https://archive.ph/5uvwu" rel="noopener" target="_blank">人兽性交 cartoon characters</a> offered a reason to overturn same-sex marriage and to ban Drag Time Story Hour, and that <a aria-label="https://archive.ph/g6DlA" aria-label-position="top" class="external-link" href="https://archive.ph/g6DlA" rel="noopener" target="_blank">supporters of same-sex marriage</a> should be excluded from Republican politics.</p> <p>鈥淵ou can鈥檛 play by the rules of the media. We shouldn鈥檛 be afraid of the <em>New York Times</em>.鈥</p> <p>Hatewatch contacted Foxx for comment via an email address listed on his website. Asked about his speech and his history of antisemitic and anti-人兽性交 conspiracy theories, Foxx did not directly respond, instead asking 鈥渨hy the 人兽性交 completely dissolved its black nationalist section even though according to the 人兽性交鈥檚 own data (attached) per capita they are the biggest 鈥榟ate group鈥 in America and commit the highest rate of attacks?鈥</p> <p>Asked about Foxx鈥檚 claims, Susan Corke, director of the 人兽性交鈥檚 Intelligence Project, which publishes Hatewatch, wrote in a message that 鈥溔耸扌越 continues to list groups based on meeting our hate group designation and continually updates our terminology and categories to be as accurate as possible.鈥</p> <p>鈥淭he groups Foxx mentions continue to be listed as hate groups and antisemitic groups, as it applies to the activity they are involved in in 2022,鈥 Corke added.</p> <h2 data-heading="Foxx's propaganda for violent hate group">Foxx鈥檚 propaganda for violent hate group</h2> <p>Foxx has a long history as a prominent proponent of hateful conspiracy theories, and as a promoter of violent far-right groups.</p> <p>In 2017, ProPublica <a aria-label="https://www.propublica.org/article/white-hate-group-campaign-of-menace-rise-above-movement" aria-label-position="top" class="external-link" href="https://www.propublica.org/article/white-hate-group-campaign-of-menace-rise-above-movement" rel="noopener" target="_blank">reported</a> that Foxx was acting as an 鈥渦nofficial propagandist鈥 for white nationalist street-fighting group the <a href="/fighting-hate/extremist-files/group/rise-above-movement">Rise Above Movement</a> (RAM), whose members were mostly based in Southern California, as was Foxx before he relocated from Lake Forest in Orange County to Post Falls, Idaho, in late 2021.</p> <p><a aria-label="http://web.archive.org/web/20170426145722/https:/theredelephants.com/" aria-label-position="top" class="external-link" href="http://web.archive.org/web/20170426145722/https:/theredelephants.com/" rel="noopener" target="_blank">Archives</a> of Foxx鈥檚 now-defunct Red Elephants website from the same year show him cheering on RAM and others who violently confronted antifascists and other protesters in Berkeley, California, and beyond.</p> <p>Following their participation in violent riots in California, RAM traveled to Charlottesville, Virginia, in August 2017, and engaged in violent interactions with counterprotesters at the deadly 鈥淯nite the Right鈥 rally.</p> <p>Three members of the group were later convicted of federal riot charges over their actions that day. The group鈥檚 founder and leader, Robert Rundo, is still facing federal charges over his participation in violent street fights during 2017 and is due to appear in court in California in April, after years of appeals were exhausted.</p> <p>Last year, a <a aria-label="/hatewatch/2022/04/26/former-marine-collaborates-violent-white-nationalist" aria-label-position="top" class="external-link" href="/hatewatch/2022/04/26/former-marine-collaborates-violent-white-nationalist" rel="noopener" target="_blank">joint investigation</a> by the 人兽性交 and Bellingcat revealed that a former U.S. Marine, Grady Mayfield, had traveled to Serbia to join Rundo at what was then his base. Subsequently, <a aria-label="https://www.bellingcat.com/news/2022/11/29/us-american-white-supremacist-facing-criminal-charges-located-in-bulgaria/" aria-label-position="top" class="external-link" href="https://www.bellingcat.com/news/2022/11/29/us-american-white-supremacist-facing-criminal-charges-located-in-bulgaria/" rel="noopener" target="_blank">Bellingcat revealed</a> that Rundo had relocated to Bulgaria, where he presumably still resides.</p> <p>Foxx has since claimed that back in 2017, he was fired from a long-term job in advertising over his promotion of white nationalist ideology and associated groups.</p> <h2 data-heading="Foxx banned from platforms over far-right content">Foxx banned from platforms over far-right content</h2> <p>At that time, Foxx was mostly prominent for his Red Elephants YouTube channel, which had attracted some 300,000 subscribers, according to <a aria-label="https://socialblade.com/youtube/channel/UCNiNWbmPWehjpQohglWsKxw" aria-label-position="top" class="external-link" href="https://socialblade.com/youtube/channel/UCNiNWbmPWehjpQohglWsKxw" rel="noopener" target="_blank">social media analytics service SocialBlade</a>.</p> <p>After being banned from YouTube, Foxx began collecting money from supporters on livestreaming platform DLive. Hatewatch鈥檚 review of 人兽性交 records of Foxx鈥檚 DLive history indicates that he generated almost $27,000 on the platform prior to his suspension from the platform in January 2021, in the days following the riot at the Capitol.</p> <p>Foxx was suspended from DLive at the same time that white nationalist livestreamer聽<a aria-label="/fighting-hate/extremist-files/individual/nick-fuentes" aria-label-position="top" class="external-link" href="/fighting-hate/extremist-files/individual/nick-fuentes" rel="noopener" target="_blank">Nick Fuentes</a>聽and <a aria-label="https://www.theguardian.com/us-news/2023/jan/10/baked-alaska-anthime-gionet-sentenced-capitol-attack" aria-label-position="top" class="external-link" href="https://www.theguardian.com/us-news/2023/jan/10/baked-alaska-anthime-gionet-sentenced-capitol-attack" rel="noopener" target="_blank">recently imprisoned</a> Internet personality and Jan. 6 rioter Timothy 鈥淏aked Alaska鈥 Gionet were excluded from the platform.</p> <p>Days before the suspensions, Hatewatch <a aria-label="/hatewatch/2021/01/07/meet-dlive-livestreaming-platform-used-trumps-capitol-insurrectionists" aria-label-position="top" class="external-link" href="/hatewatch/2021/01/07/meet-dlive-livestreaming-platform-used-trumps-capitol-insurrectionists" rel="noopener" target="_blank">reported</a> that Gionet and Fuentes had used the platform to monetize their participation in the events of Jan. 6.</p> <p>(Foxx is a close ally of Fuentes, and was a featured speaker at his <a href="/hatewatch/2021/03/11/far-right-extremists-gather-florida-cpac-spinoff-alongside-sitting-congressman">2021 AFPAC conference</a> in Florida alongside far-right Rep. Paul Gosar, white nationalist former Rep. Steve King, and anti-immigrant and anti-Muslim propagandist and former newspaper columnist Michelle Malkin.)</p> <p>Following the DLive ban, Foxx <a aria-label="https://archive.ph/D9lRN" aria-label-position="top" class="external-link" href="https://archive.ph/D9lRN" rel="noopener" target="_blank">took to</a> extremist-friendly social media platform Gab to complain that he was being 鈥減olitically persecuted,鈥 adding that 鈥淭he same political persecution ... [that] led to the 2017 termination of my employment of 13 years ... has left me unemployable, and ... led to my YouTube channel being terminated in August of 2020.鈥</p> <p>Foxx added, 鈥淚 am now definitely going to have to expedite the sale of my home and commence relocation.鈥</p> <h2 data-heading="Foxx in Idaho">Foxx inserts himself in Pacific Northwest politics</h2> <p>California property records indicate that he sold his Lake Forest, California, house for $890,000 on Aug. 8, 2021. Multiple data brokers indicate that he had moved his family to a house in the northern suburbs of Post Falls by October 2021. Idaho company records indicate that Foxx subsequently registered two companies, Foxx Overstock LLC and Daily Veracity LLC, at the address with himself as a principal.</p> <p>Since his arrival in Post Falls, Foxx has positioned himself as part of a 鈥渞ight-wing takeover happening right now in the state of Idaho,鈥 according to a Huffington Post report last May, which also recorded him as saying, 鈥淲e have a great large group of people, and that group is growing.鈥</p> <p>Foxx was a vocal participant last Dec. 21 at a rowdy meeting of the board of trustees of North Idaho Community College (NIC). The majority bloc on the board 鈥 Todd Banducci, Greg McKenzie and Mike Waggoner 鈥 were supported by the Brent Regan-led KCRCC, and campaigned on combating 鈥渨okeness鈥 at the two-year college.</p> <p>Their actions since assuming the majority 鈥 including abruptly placing the college president on administrative leave and installing a handpicked replacement, hiring a new college attorney without a bid process and violating open-meetings laws 鈥 have <a aria-label="https://www.insidehighered.com/news/2023/01/03/board-trustees-drives-dramatic-change-idaho-college" aria-label-position="top" class="external-link" href="https://www.insidehighered.com/news/2023/01/03/board-trustees-drives-dramatic-change-idaho-college" rel="noopener" target="_blank">reportedly</a> endangered the college鈥檚 accreditation.</p> <p>Foxx turned out to support the far-right majority bloc and to confront their critics, boasting on a livestream hosted by far-right YouTuber Casey Whalen that he had concluded an argument with a student by using a homophobic slur.</p> <p>Earlier, Foxx was one of a number of men who created an 鈥<span class="s2"><a href="https://www.chronline.com/stories/white-nationalists-dominate-discussion-at-joe-kent-town-hall,285927">unusually raucous</a>鈥澛燼tmosphere at a March 9, 2022, town hall held by failed far-right congressional candidate Joe Kent in Onalaska, Washington. The Keenans were returning from a wedding and stopped briefly near the compound to look for a wallet that had fallen out the car.</span></p> <p>Bullets struck their car several times before the vehicle careened into a ditch. Members of the group held the Keenans at gunpoint.</p> <p>The compound was heavily guarded and consisted of the home of Aryan Nations leader Richard Butler and several other structures. For decades, it had served as the meeting place for the nation's most violent white supremacists.</p> <p>The Center filed Keenan v. Aryan Nations, seeking justice for the bruised and traumatized Keenans. After a weeklong trial, a jury ruled that Butler and his organization were grossly negligent in selecting and supervising the guards. In September 2000, they awarded a $6.3 million jury verdict against the Aryan Nations and Butler.</p> <p>The judgment forced Butler to turn over the 20-acre compound to the Keenans.
